Last OCS ePortfolio Update!

Hello All!

I imagine that you are busy with projects, travels, and new friends. Carleton term is coming to a close, so you know what Northfield is like:)

This is my last ePortfolio check-in before we see each other back on campus! Here is what you need to do in this last month of your program:

1) Think about:
* What are your portfolio goals (documenting or reflecting on your experience; highlighting different types of learning you are engaged in; showcasing new skills you acquired to an outside audience, such as a future employer; emphasizing cross-cultural learning, growing global awareness, language skills, or — a little bit of all of the above)
* What categories/artifacts best match your goals (essays, reports, pictures, videos, songs, quotes, articles, blogs, websites, slide shows, recordings, etc.)

* What are your missing? What should you work on/collect before your leave?

2) Create an initial list of artifact categories and a sample artifact in each category (for example: category: My Language Journey; artifact: a fragment of recording/transcript from an interview you conducted in the local language for your final research project). Have this list and samples ready for our first ePortfolio meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, January 12, (7 PM, place TBD)Don’t forget to use resources and view the portfolio examples at http://blogs.carleton.edu/portfolio/resources/

3) By Monday, January 4 (first day of classes!), please send me:
Your initial short essay:
List the academic and personal goals and expectations that motivated you to select your study abroad program. What do you plan to accomplish?  How will this experience complement and enhance your Carleton education?

As always, let me know if you have any question.
See you in January!
Helena
