Your summer break is almost over and in a few weeks you will be packing and taking off on your OCS adventure!
I don’t want to clog your mailboxes with unnecessary information, but I do want to remind you about the OCS ePortfolio:) There is only one required assignment for you to complete before you leave:
List the academic and personal goals and expectations that motivated you to select your study abroad program. What do you plan to accomplish? How will this experience complement and enhance your Carleton education?
You should uploaded it as a word document and just have it sit there until you are ready to read it again, probably when you get back.
Otherwise, you are free to collect and upload any artifacts you’d like. You can use ideas that we listed on the OCS ePortfolio site or come up with your own excellent uploads, inspired by the experiences you’ll have on your program.
I found two interesting pre-departure activities on the Engaging Study Abroad: Before During, After site. I like the cultural identity exercise “You as a Culturally Diverse Person” and I LOVE the “Identity as Story(ies)” video of a TED talk by the Nigerian writer Chimmamanda Ngozi Adichie!
There are, of course, other options that may look more interesting to you.
Good luck with everything and safe travels!
